Black Tea. A tea celebrating the love, culture and history of the Bay of Islands.
It is said that in1810 a Bengali man jumped off a ship and swam ashore to marry a local Maori woman. With the English whalers already supplying tea and his knowledge of spices, possibly this man was the first person to brew chai tea in New Zealand.
Directions
Warm the teapot and teacups
Use fresh water- better still use spring or filtered water
Water temperature 90c - Or boil the jug & let cool for about 5 mins
Use 1 tsp per teacup (200ml) - 1 heaped tsp per mug
Steep tea for 3 minutes
If a stronger brew is required use more tea
May add milk and, or sugar.
Composition: Black tea,cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, rose petals,natural flavour.
