Designimdorf
Designimdorf was set up in 1993 by Stefan Spitz, a Black Forest “Meister” turner of the fourth generation. The company draws its strength from more than 100 years of skilled wood-linked craftsmanship. What used to be a well-established turner mastery in the past, is now also a forwardlooking company which continues to honour its core material, natural black forest wood. Located in a wide plateau in the southern-most German Black Forest bordering Switzerland, Designimdorf continues to work with local wood according to old craft tradition, but also incorporating the most up-to-date modern techniques. The results are solid high quality products with pleasing aesthetics and innovative design highlighting the natural qualities of wood. The philosophy of Designimdorf is to combine good design and solid, traditional craftsmanship. A growing number of design awards such as DESIGN PLUS, FORM 95, FORM 2006, FORM 2008, FORM 2009, testify to the success of this underlying idea. The collection of Designimdorf centres around gifts and home accessories, kitchen and table, lights and lamps, office and writing, and last, but not least, Christmas season and winter time. Many Designimdorf products are featured in the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
