ObjectsKosta Boda has become one of the leading glasshouses in the world, and is the parent company of the three glassworks in the villages of Kosta, Boda and Afors,
'Kosta' is an amalgamation of the names of the two former army generals who founded the glassworks in 1742, the company becoming Kosta Boda in 1964 after the merging of the different glassworks operating within the Kingdom of Crystal. Kosta Boda originally produced only utility glass, including window and chandelier glass, until in 1897 at the Stockholm Exhibition it was criticised as being too uniform. Since then a large number of artists and designers have been employed to enrich the glassmaking tradition of the works with their artistic talents, and work in tandem with the highly skilled craftspeople and glassblowers.
