Based on the shape of the famous Aalto vase this steel dish is a classic. The 504mm size dish was released in 2006, to celebrate 70 years of the Aalto vase.

The original Aalto Vase with its distinctive curved sides was first designed by Alvar Aalto and released by iittala at the 1937 World Fair in Paris.

The shape is supposedly based on sketches playfully named “The Eskimo Woman’s Leather Breeches.” Aalto was also the son of a cartographer, and undoubtedly the Finnish archipelago had some influence on the designer.
