Few vases are so sought after by the design community. The original Aalto Vase with its distinctive curved sides was first designed by Alvar Aalto and released by iittala at the 1937 World Fair in Paris.
The shape is supposedly based on sketches playfully named “The Eskimo Woman’s Leather Breeches.” Aalto was also the son of a cartographer, and undoubtedly the Finnish archipelago had some influence on the designer.

This re-make of the Aalto was done just this millennium, the taller shape makes it simple to display long stemmed flowers and greenery to its potential. This crystal white coloured piece is hand blown in Finland.

The Aalto and Finlandia Vases are completely versatile, fabulous for the floral arrangement-challenged, as the flowers arrange themselves within the corners of the vase.  Everything from tulips to branches look stunning in the Aalto collection.
Hand blown and crafted with pride by Finnish master glass blowers.
