Description
The Kotare has been recorded as diving up to 1 meter to hunt for its prey. With flashes of turquiose and blue this colourful bird is a favourite of New Zealanders. It often nests in clay cliffs along roadsides and the baby birds can be heard calling for their parents when you walk past.
