Description
The Gentoo penguin can swim up to 36km under the water. No other penguin has a bright orange bill or the white over the eye. The Gentoo is rarely seen in New Zealand naturally but can be seen at Kelly Tarton's Aquarium in Auckland. The Gentoo's live and breed in the Antarctic and Sub-Antarctic circumpolar waters and are usually present all year at main breeding areas.The Gentoo has never won Bird of The Year. Voting is in apx October/November every year and is always an exciting and heavily competed contest.
The Geento Penguin sparkly decoration with feet was introduced in 2018.
